perfect {little} holder
I wanted to share a quick post on my new make-up brush holder - I absolutely love it! A few months ago I purchased a DSM Daily - it's just like Groupon or livingsocial - but is obviously geared towards Des Moines, IA deals only! The deal I received from DSM Daily was for a little shop in Historic Valley Junction called Light the Earth! They have unique one-of-a-kind stone oil lamps in all different sizes, vases in all different sizes and unique hand-crafted jewelry.
After taking a look at their website I figured I'd end up with some fun, cute, new earrings, but then I went there last Friday to use my deal + I could not pass up getting a unique piece of stone! A little background on why I ended up with the stone vase instead of the earrings: earlier at work, I was discussing make-up organizers (thanks for getting me on that kick, Mer ;)!) with a friend + a co-worker told me I should never lay my brushes flat - it's not good for them. I'm positive my mother has also told me this 20,000 times, but why listen to your mom!? My mom keeps her brushes standing up in a cute Longaberger basket - or at least she used to! Anyways -- so this make-up organizer + the fact that my brushes shouldn't lay flat was on my mind . . . so that's why I chose to go with this beautiful stone piece versus the earrings there. Ok, that reason + the fact I've been to three lia sophia parties + one Silpada in the last few months - so I don't really need anymore jewelry! The woman who owns the store (she does the jewelry + her husband does the stones) told me that they personally go to Lake Superior or other areas on the hunt for beautiful stones - mine happened to come from Lake Superior. I absolutely LOVE the piece + it looks perfect in our bathroom - Nick did ask on Friday evening "how + when did we acquire a rock make-up brush vase?" -- told him not to worry about it + he dropped it. I think he likes the look of it too - so maybe someday we'll go back + get a big stone for a table centerpiece or something!?
