30 Weeks 04.25.12 |
Anyways . . . here's a little update!
Total Weight Gain: 20lbs (YIKES . . . I never thought I'd post that on the internet, but really I don't care anymore) I'm scared what the final weight gain may be, but hopefully it comes off quick with attempting to breast feed + getting back into a more consistent workout routine.
Belly Size: Last week at 29w2d, my belly was tracking at 31. The doctor reassured me that this is within normal range, if it was a larger # they would have ordered an ultrasound. Seriously - thought this was going to be a little guy? He was in the 36th percentile for weight around 21 weeks + Nick + I are relatively 'small' people - and when I say small, I guess I mean short. :)
Also - as this belly keeps getting bigger + bigger, it gets harder + harder to bend over to put on socks or tie shoes or pick something up. I also can't jog up + down our stairs like I used to!
How I'm Feeling: I seriously cannot complain! I'm so shocked at how well this entire pregnancy has gone for me. I never had morning sickness. I had the "pukes" once when I had a terrible migraine early on in my first trimester.
At week 16 I went into the doctor's office to be checked out because I was having so much pain in my lower right side and around into my back they thought it might be appendicitis or a kidney stone. After being checked out + having a full abdomen/kidney ultrasound, they think I probably passed a stone. I then googled what caused them + one site said acidic fruits, so I stopped eating oranges that very day (I had just gotten through almost an entire box from the FFA too).
Recently, I have woken up to a few cramps in my legs. This is fairly common and doesn't seem to last long, however a couple weekends ago my leg was sore for 3 days after I woke up with the cramp.
Working Out: I've slowed down my workout routine, which was a mistake. All I was doing was walking on the treadmill, while watching some shows on DVR -- this mixed in with stretching was doing wonders for me. BUT, now that I haven't been as consistent with it as I was in the beginning, I can really tell. It's sad to say, but I sometimes get tired walking up the stairs at work to my desk in the morning. I will NOT take the elevator though! I just feel a little short of breath - so I get to my desk + immediately get something to drink.
What I'm Nervous About: Nick + I attended a Baby Care class a few weeks ago through the hospital -- they talked about delivery, the umbilical chord + how to take care of it at home for that first few weeks until it falls off + little boys getting circumcised. I seriously almost fainted when they went over the delivery + umbilical chord. Not sure if you all know this, but my senior year of college I took a sex ed class for that easy "A" (it was a class that filled up quickly/very difficult to even get into). Well, when they showed that token birthing video, I had to get up and walk out because I couldn't handle it. As I made my way out the door, I fainted -- in front of everyone waiting to get into the next class in that lecture hall! How embarrassing - I remember a girl bringing me water + then I immediately called my mom + told her I did NOT want 4 kids anymore, I didn't even know if I wanted 1. She told me "Kaleigh, you do not have to watch it, if you don't want to!" I continue to look at videos online of how the baby is growing + that is even starting to make me a little queasy. I'm just very nervous that I'll be in this "fainting" status when the time comes to deliver this little guy, but then again they say adrenaline sort of kicks in + takes over -- lets all hope for that!
One thing I'm nervous about for when the little guy is here is for bath time! I am terrible at giving our dog a bath - it's Nick's job. I'm just not efficient at it - water goes everywhere + I'm just really slow. Hopefully I can do a better job at giving a baby a bath!
What I'm Excited About: Obviously, I am way too excited to meet this little guy! We've had his name picked out since December/January timeframe + I can't wait to share it. Really - if you ask me in person, I'll tell you. It's not really a secret, just hasn't been posted all over Facebook or our blog, yet! His room is finally coming together, or will be within the next week or two! Nick + I are excited to have our own little person to share everything with -- we really hope Mitsy is too!
Mitsy: Our first babe, fur babe, the daughter that has Nick wrapped around her little paw! She's doing well - I don't even think she has a clue that my stomach is getting HUGE and that she has another person coming into her life full-time VERY soon. Her life hasn't really changed or skipped a beat, other than the fact that she wakes up in the middle of the night when I wake up to use the restroom - she doesn't even get out of bed though, just goes back to sleep.

That is a little update on how things are going. We've been up to some fun things on weekends, but really have been lacking pictures to go with stories, so just haven't really been updating the blog. I'll make sure I change that and start updating more often, so the posts aren't sooooo long!
xoxo
